1 Terabyte (1,000 GB) of Gmail Storage

It looks like the space limit in my Gmail email account is now 1,000 GB (one million megabytes):

1,000 GB of Space in Gmail

I’m not the only one.

My guess is that this increase is in response to Yahoo’s announcement that their free email users will get 100mb space. As if it wasn’t enough already? ;)

Who knows if it’ll stay this way? In any case, feel free to send me an email: technician at gmail dot com (no spam please; I already get it).

Update: If you don’t already have an account, you can get a Gmail invite here.

Match 19, 2006 update: I was thinking of closing comments, but now that I have Paged Comments, it looks okay. I’ll leave it open, at least for the time being. So you can discuss Gmail here. But I really think that it’s much better to discuss in the Gmail forum instead.

How does the invitation system work? Are all current g-mail users allowed to invite people? I’m interested int rying the service, but their FAQ is rather unhelpful.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this “glitch” turned out to be a marketing ploy by Google to attract more attention to Gmail, especially when taking into consideration the peculiar buzz this whole 1 Tb thing has generated. I guess the widespread notice could just as well stem from geeks being geeky on the internet.

I’ve been waiting for gmail to get out of beta but after searching around while waiting, I found hriders.com that offers 1 terabyte of space with 500mbs file limits. After I signed up I discovered I had over 10 terabytes of storage.
I still want to check out gmail, but for right now, hriders is the way to go for me.

Is space all you care about? Gmail is not about space; it’s about the other features such as Conversations, labeling, search, sorting, etc. And don’t forget, the only ads are text ads.

I want ot get free e-mail account of gmail, which is very easy to use and very big capacity of storgae.

Well, if you put it that way, you can have conversations pretty much about anything, Labeling, searching and sorting are all included with hriders along with signatures, forwarding, address book, forwarding, vacation messages, filters…pretty much all the basics.
AND…the only ads are, well…there are no ads once you’re logged in. :)
But the biggest plus for me is, it’s far easier to get an account there than it is to get one for gmail.
I signed up about a day or 2 after google announced gmail and they said they’ll get in touch with me when they’re ready to go public. still no word.
