WP2 Akismet
I’ve been using WP 2.0 on my blog for almost a day now. The most notable change is the switch from Spam Karma to Akismet. I think SK was much more customizable, considering that the code ran entirely on my site, so there was no question about what it did. On the other hand, Akismet is, as far as I can tell, very centralized, and there are no options.
Caught Spam
Akismet has caught 4 for you since you installed it.
You can delete all of the spam from your database with a single click. This operation cannot be undone, so you may wish to check to ensure that no legitimate comments got through first. Spam is automattically deleted after 15 days, so don’t sweat it.
There are currently 403 comments identified as spam.
Apparently, Akismet also deletes spam comments made in the past. I guess this is a good thing. There’s lots of spam hiding in blogs on posts made years ago, which is adding to the buildup of gunk. This helped to clear it out. I just hope that no legitimate comments are deleted. Of course, if your comment doesn’t go through, contact me.
