Mark Study Adventure
Instead of Mark Study tonight, we had to go and do something to love other people. We thought long and hard, and finally decided to go out and talk with people, and then pray for them. We assigned into random pairs, but there were no mixed gender pairs. I wonder what the chances of that happening are?
There were 6 girls and 3 guys, and we divided into 4 groups of 2 with one person going out by himself (Jackie). Agh. It’s been too long since I’ve done math, and I have no motivation to work it out now. But we drew numbers out of a bag, numbered 1-8, and had 1 & 2 go together, 3 & 4, etc.
Jeff and I decided to go to Parkside Suites. The first guy we talked to was in the lobby. I introduced us, and the first thing he said was, “I’m not religious at all.” Jeff thought that would kill the conversation, but it didn’t. If anything, it made it better. He talked with us extensively about being an international student from Iran working on his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering. His name is Ardy, and he’s getting married in a month. We prayed for him. It was amazing how he was so receptive, and it felt great to bring his needs to God’s attention.
We went upstairs and checked every study room on both ends of the hall on each floor. We met Eric and Ashley, who were studying for their Math 126 (Calculus II) exam tomorrow. Ashley is from Idaho, while Eric is from the LA area. We prayed for them as well.
Overall, it was a good experience and I’m very impressed with the way it turned out! We should do things like this more often. God is real and He does amazing things…
