7 Police Cars and a Helicopter in Walnut
Yesterday, we ran out towards Vons to pick up some French Bread… but we ran into seven police cars all around one area of that shopping center, with the police officers parked, and out of their cars, with their guns drawn. One was hiding behind a tree, while others were behind their cars. Also, there was a helicopter circling overhead… and it was there for the entire time we were walking. I didn’t have a real camera with me, but I snapped a few pics with my cell phone.
The helicopter circling above our heads. Shot with a Nokia mobile phone.
That was about 10 minutes, and the helicopter was still circling, and had probably done at least 10 circles right above us. This is a very rare occurrence in the City of Walnut, so I was quite frightened. We started to turn back, but when I told my mom about it, she decided to drive out to take a look at it. I felt a bit safer inside a car. There aren’t too many people walking out on the sidewalk, but lots of cars, so we’d blend in better that way. The policemen really had guns drawn and were holding them as if ready to fire. My mom thought they were surrounding the Taco Factory, but my sister and I thought it more likely it was the Wells Fargo which was also right there.
We still don’t know what it was.
The police cars were still there this morning (but now in parking spaces, instead of blocking the entrance to the shopping center), but they’re gone now.
Here are more of the pictures I shot on my phone. Cell phone cameras work astoundingly well for pictures to be put on the web, integrated with text. Nobody would want a 5 megapixel, or even 1 megapixel, photo in this environment. (Though a real camera would, of course, produce much better pictures.)
One of the seven police cars, parked on the street.
Another of the police cars, this one partly blocking the entrance to the shopping center. Also, I think that’s another police car in the background, driving through the lot.
I’m surprised I got this picture, because our car was moving at the time, so with the cell phone camera’s delay, I thought I missed it. But I didn’t; that’s a police officer standing behind a tree with his gun in hand.
So yeah, some rather scary stuff, and I don’t know what happened, so if you have any insight, let me know with a comment below (or send me feedback individually).
